❤️ Funding openmaps.fr

Openmaps.fr (See presentation page) Tile Map Service based on OpenStreetMap datas providing OpenTopoMap-R and OpenHikingMap All free of charge and Open Sourced code. However, operating and renting servers is not free and entirely rely on users donations. there are two crowdfunding platforms to help fund the project:

• ko-fi.com/openmapsfr: 1.5% fee + 0.25 cents and allows for one-time donations as well as recurring ones. Preferred.
• liberapay.com/openmaps.fr: 1.5% fee + 0.25 cents and only allows for recurring donations (unless you cancel the donation later).

What are those funds used for ?

As of December 2025 :

• Server cost (hosting and renting) See Openmaps.fr (See presentation page) for details about the current used server ( 889 € /year) or the 2026 year’s bill (redacted from my personnal informations for privacy). And if I could afford a 2nd identical server, I would ensure a better redundancy during problems, or re-import or any type of upgrades.

• Domain name openmaps.fr (~8€ /year)

• 2 days a year of time spent for maintenance, OSM data re-import, and blocking too high usage (~500 € /year)
