❤️ Funding openmaps.fr

Openmaps.fr (See presentation page) Tile Map Service based on OpenStreetMap datas providing OpenTopoMap-R and OpenHikingMap. All are free of charge and Open Sourced code.

However, operating and renting servers is not free and entirely rely on user donations. There are two crowdfunding platforms to help fund the project:

• liberapay.com/openmaps.fr: 1.5% fee + 0.25 cents and only allows for recurring donations (unless you cancel the donation later). However, it is based on free software code. This is my recommendation.
• OR
• ko-fi.com/openmapsfr: 1.5% fee + 0.25 cents and allows for one-time donations as well as recurring ones.

Please note: These two platforms will ask for an email address. You can perfectly well provide a "dummy" email that does not exist, such as `a@gmail.com`, without this causing any issue if you prefer to remain anonymous.

What are those funds used for?

As of 2025, the funds are used for the following expenses:

• Server cost (hosting and renting)
  See Openmaps.fr (See presentation page) for details about the server needed (~1000 € /year).
  *And if I could afford a 2nd identical server, I would ensure a better redundancy during problems, or re-import or any type of upgrades.*
• Domain name openmaps.fr (~8 € /year)
• Maintenance time 2 days a year of time spent for maintenance, OSM data re-import, and blocking too high usage (~500 € /year)
